Junior Golfers Battle Heat on Day One of Southern Oregon Junior Championship

MEDFORD, Ore. - Competitors at the Southern Oregon Jr. Championship endured brutal temperatures of over 100 degress during the first round at Rogue Valley Country Club. 

William Fleck (Bend, Ore.) was the only golfer to finish with a score under par closing with a 4-under 32 on the back-nine to shoot a 4-under 68.  Fleck will have a 4-shot lead going into the final round tomorrow at Rogue Valley CC.  Isaac Buerger (Redmond, Ore.) sits in second place alone following an even par 72. 

Following rounds of 1-over 73, Alexa Udom (Portland, Ore.) and Elli Gordon (Dallas, Ore.) are tied for first place in the Girls Open Division.  They hold a two-shot lead over Kaylee Wu (Medford, Ore.) and Olivia Venderby (West Linn, Ore.) following rounds of 3-over 75.

Temperatures are expected to increase to over 100 degrees again for tomorrow's final round of play.
