World Handicap System | Oregon Golf Association

The World Handicap System unifies the six handicapping systems used around the world into a single system.

The new system enables golfers of different ability to play and compete on a fair and equitable basis, in any format, on any course, anywhere around the world; be easy to understand and implement, without sacrificing accuracy; and meet the varied needs and expectations of golfers, clubs and authorities all around the world and be adaptable to suit all golfing cultures.

The WHS encompasses both the Rules of Handicapping and the Course Rating System (formerly the USGA Course Rating and Slope System).

Along with the new system comes a revamped GHIN mobile app, which features new stat-tracking features through hole-by-hole scoring (par 3 scoring, greens in regulation, fairways hit, etc.). Click here for more details and links to download for Android or iPhone.
