1st Look - Central Willamette Junior Championship
Welcome the 1st Look Series for the Central Willamette Junior Championship! This event will take place on July 7-8th at our first duel location tournament of the season. The first day of competition will occur at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, OR and will conclude on Tuesday at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, OR.
Last year’s event was also played at 2 courses; however, the final round was completed at Spring Hill Golf Club at Albany Golf and Events Center in Albany, OR. The tournament included a new course record at Spring Hill when Brian Humphreys carded a superb -9, 63 in the event’s final round. Jake Reiff, of Lake Oswego, OR, also found Spring Hill to be his liking. Reiff finished with a -7, 65 to win the Boys Open Division with a 36-Hole total of 137, -7 under par. Salem’s Deanna Salvatori was the 2013 Champion in the Girls Open Division after posting 74-73 for a 36-Hole total of 147. Spring Hill Golf Club hosted its first two-day Major this year at the 2014 Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge, which was an extremely successful event and drew an equally full field as this upcoming week’s event. Arrowhead Golf Club, led by their experienced head professional and leader Rob Gibbons, is enthusiastic to host the final round of the Central Willamette Junior and open its course to the passionate youth in Oregon Junior Golf.
This year’s field includes over 215 competitors who are excited to experience the high quality of golf that Willamette Valley CC and Arrowhead Golf Club have to offer. This is the first event since the 2014 Boys and Girls Juniors America’s Cup Teams were selected. Team Points can continue to be earned at the rest of the 2014 OJG Majors, which will be used to select the Boy’s Eddie Hogan Cup members and 2015 Pacific Ladies Junior Team Matches members. Check out the current standings of Team Points HERE.
The next edition of the 1st Look Series will take us into the Southern Oregon Swing for the 2014 Southern Oregon Junior Championship at Rogue Valley Country Club, and the Klamath Basin Junior in Klamath Falls. Both events take place the week of July 14-18, 2014. Have fun and play well Juniors!
