2015 Volunteer Appreciation Day

The OGA would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of its wonderful volunteers. To thank the hundreds of hardworking individuals who take time out of their year to help with Championships, Junior Golf and Course Rating, the OGA held Volunteer Appreciation Day at Tualatin Country Club in Tualatin, Ore. on Monday, October 19th.

After a day filled with golf and good times, awards were given to those who went above and beyond in their volunteering with the OGA. Shanda Imlay was named OGA Volunteer of the Year for her work in both Oregon Junior Golf and in OGA Championships. Not only is Imlay an excellent Starter and Rules Official, but she also works full time at her driving range, Fundamental Golf and Learning Center, helping juniors and beginners excel at the game of golf.

Bill King was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award for his work over the past 16+ years volunteering with the OGA. King excelled at working at most, if not all, OGA Championships, dedicating his craft to officiating the Rules of Golf. Now “retired” from his volunteer work at the OGA, King’s legacy is one of hard work and endless hours given to making OGA Championships a better experience for all.

Cliff Shahbaz and Bob Proctor earned recognition for their work in OGA Championships and Junior Golf as Volunteer of the Year honorees, and Harry Mejdell earned the Course Rating Volunteer of the Year award.

Thank you to all OGA volunteers who assisted with Championships, Junior Golf, and Course Rating in 2015! See you in 2016!
