2016 Charlotte's Tournament of Champions Recap

SALEM, ORE. - The 2016 Oregon Junior Golf Sanctioned tournament season came to an end on Saturday in Salem at Charlotte’sTournament of Champions. Mother nature played no assistance on an already difficult golf course.
The tournament saw many good rounds played and was highlighted by an Intermediate Boys’ (12-13) division that saw a two-hole playoff between Brandon Eyre and Owen Huntington after both shot 73 (+1). The two players had quite opposite days leading to Brandon Eyre’s playoff win on the second hole with his 8th birdie of the day. Huntington played a solid round of 18 with thirteen pars.
The first playoff of the day came in the Pee Wee Girls (10-11) division between Jade Gruher and Emily Song. With both finishing at 7-over par 43 through 9 holes they returned for more golf. It only took one hole for Jade Gruher to win the playoff and take home the title.
The Junior Boys’ (16-17) Division was led the whole day Jaiveer Singh-Cheema who finished the day with a 1-under par score of 71. Singh-Cheema’s 71 was seven strokes ahead of the second place finisher Elijah Lai who finished the day with a six over par 78. Timothy Lee, Brad Milligan, and Cooper Burk rounded out the division with scores of 81, 83, and 85 respectively.
The Girls’ (15-17) Division was won by Victoria Gailey with a 3-over par 75. Chasing her were Ashley Zhu (78), Emma Beyer (79), and Megumi Rees (80) who were all separated by one stroke.
The Intermediate Girls’ (12-14) Division was ran away with by Mary Scott Wolfe who shot a 4 over par 77. She finished the day six strokes in front of Elise Deschaine and 11 in front of Olivia Venderby.
In the Boys’ (14-15) Division Nick Lasko took home the trophy with the second of only two under-par rounds on Saturday. His 2-under par 70 was the lowest score of the day, as Alex Roberts, Danny Hext, and Johnny Ward all tied at 82 in second.
The PeeWee Boys (10-11) Division saw Jordan Higgins continue his winning ways on Saturday. Jordan proved he can play 18 holes finishing with a nine over par 81. Isaac Stouder, Evan Chen, and Eli Huntington were all tied for second with respective rounds of 88.
The PeeWee Boys (8-9) Division was one of the closest divisions of the day. The winner, Lucas Vanderlip (44), won by two strokes over Grady Millar (46) and three strokes over Drew Woolworth (47).
The Pee Wee Girls’ (8-9) was won by Natalie Yen who shot a nine over par 45 and beat Erika Kobayashi by 13 strokes.
