Champions Crowned at 36th Oregon Net Championship
Kim Johns and Joe Murray took home titles at the 36th Oregon Net Championship played Sept. 19-20 at McNary Golf Club in Salem.
Net Championship (Sept. 19-20):
Johns, from Portland, shot a net 1-over par (80-77 / 73-70) to earn the women’s crown. She posted four birdies and an eagle in her 1-under par final round.
Anita Johnson (Portland) finished second at net 7-over par. Sharon Baugh (Albany) and Denis Chumrau (Vancouver) took fourth and fifth respectively.
On the men’s side it was Murray (Aloha) who held off Chris Simpson (Brush Prairie) by one stroke for the win.
Both competitors opened with a net 1-over par on day one. Murray, buoyed by a front nine net eagle on a par 4 (Hole No. 4), posted a 1-under final round, while Simpson settled for net even par.
Jose Pizano (Cornelius), Darrin MacKay (Fairview) and Kiger Plews (Vida) tied for third at net 2-over.
The 2020 OGA Championship season will culminate with the 11th OGA Tour Championship scheduled for Oct. 10-11 at Crosswater Club in Sunriver.
