Five Players Advance to 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship
WOODBURN, ORE. - Five players advanced to this year's 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship after finishing in the top-5 of qualifying held Tuesday at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore.
The 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held August 1-7 at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa.
Ciera Min (Hilo, Hawaii) earned medalist honors after firing an impressive 5-under par 67 to, besting the field by three shots. Min totaled seven birdies on her round.
Susan Xiao (Surrey, B.C.) finished in second place after firing a 2-under par 70. Jacqueline Bendrick (Mercer Island, Wash.) qualified by finishing in third place, also shooting under par with a 71 (-1).
Daniele Giles (Talent, Ore.), the recent Oregon Junior Golf standout and University of Oregon commit, earned fourth place and aqualifying spot for this year's championship after firing an even-par round of 72.
The fifth and final spot was determind by playoff, after four players tied at 1-over par: Cali Hipp (Caldwell, Idaho), Marianne Li (Bellevue, Wash.), Haley Nist (Meridian, Idaho) and Ellen Secor (Portland, Ore.). Hipp ultimately won the playoff and the final qualifying spot after a birdie on the second playoff hole.
