Forty-Eight More Players Qualify for 2017 Oregon Amateur as Field Nears Completion

OREGON CITY, ORE. - Forty-eight golfers advanced to the 108th Oregon Amateur Championship after the second of three qualifiers took place on Tuesday, June 6th at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City, Ore.

Leading the way at Stone Creek was Brett Wolvert (Wilsonville, Ore.), who fired a 3-under par 69 to take medalist honors. The former University of Evansville golfer earned the top spot in Tuesday's qualifier by one shot over Braeden Campbell (Washougal, Wash.). The University of Hawaii at Hilo golfer fired a 2-under par 70, while Alex Foster (Beaverton, Ore.) earned third place at 1-under par (71).

With 48 available qualifying spots for the Championship proper, 9-over par (81) turned out to be the cut line. In a two-person playoff for the final qualifying spot, Steven Madey (West Linn, Ore.) defeated Brad Skreen (West Linn, Ore.) with a par on the second playoff hole.

A total of 67 players have now qualified for the 108th Oregon Amateur (excluding exempt players). The final qualifier takes place Saturday, June 10th at Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River, Ore.

The 108th Oregon Amateur Championship commences June 20-25, 2017 at The Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Ore.
