GHIN Announces Collaboration with Golf Genius Software; OGA Participating in Pilot Program
In recent months, the USGA began to reimagine GHIN and explore opportunities to enhance its impact for the future. During this process, the USGA decided to outsource the tournament management component to Golf Genius Software, who is already dedicated to this market. Golf Genius will provide golf tournament management software to GHIN Golf Associations and their member clubs beginning in 2017.
During the initial Pilot Phase over the next few months, the Oregon Golf Association – specifically OGA Director of Tournament Operations, Brent Whittaker – will test product features and provide feedback. “We are excited about the USGA’s partnership with Golf Genius,” said Whittaker. “The new Tournament Management Software will be great for clubs, containing a lot of great new features that are intuitive and easy to use.”
“This product will help to modernize how OGA Member Clubs run their golf tournaments, adapting better and easier to new technologies.”
Two distinct Tournament Management software products will be offered to OGA Member Clubs as a replacement for the current Tournament Pairing Program (TPP):
USGA Tournament Management – this product will provide a feature set equivalent to TPP for a Pro Shop and / or Tournament Committee to set up and run member events, leagues and outings. It will provide best-in-class printed materials including fully customizable scorecards, cart signs, tee sheets, alpha lists, etc.
USGA Tournament Management Premium – will offer an upgraded set of tournament management features and capabilities such as live scoring, live TV leaderboards, online registration and payments, and a customizable website for each event, league, or outing.
As many OGA Member Clubs and Tournament Directors are using TPP (Tournament Pairing Program), and it will take time to move users to the new products, TPP will continue to be operational and supported by GHIN through December 31, 2017.
