Hara Makes it Back-to-Back at 67th Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship

Kyosuke Hara, Denny Taylor and Jay Poletiek won their respective divisions at the 67th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championships played Aug. 2-4 on the Ridge Course at Eagle Crest Resort.

Hara, the defending champion who won last year’s open division, finished 15-under par (67-67-67-201) to win by two strokes over Mayson Tibbs (64-71-68-203). Hara finished with an event-high 18 birdies and tied for the lead with two eagles during the 54-hole competition.

Craig Ronne (69-66-70-205) and Joe Neuheisel (69-70-68-207) finished third and fourth respectively in the men’s open division.

Taylor (71-67-72-210) finished 6-under par to win the senior division by four strokes over Bradley Karns (70-72-72-214) and Pat O’Donnell (75-71-68-214) who tied for second at 2-under.

The win was Taylor’s second men’s stroke play championship, having also topped the senior division field at the 2002 championship played at Eagle Point Golf Club.

The Master 40 Division was won by Poletiek (73-72-68-213) who finished the competition at 3-under par. He finished six strokes ahead of Jeffrey Ward (73-70-76-219) and Shane Johnston (75-75-69-219) who tied for second place.

The Oregon Golf Association’s championship schedule continues Aug. 10-11 with the 22nd Oregon Public Links Championship to be held at Quail Valley Golf Club in Banks.
