Lake Oswego's Riley Elmes to Compete This Week at 2018 U.S. Amateur

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Riley Elmes (Lake Oswego, Ore.) will be the lone Oregon native to compete this week at the 2018 U.S. Amateur, held August 13-19 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Elmes, a rising senior at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, will be playing in his second USGA event this year, after competing in the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball in the spring.

Elmes is a regular competitor in OGA events. He won the 2015 OGA Tournament of Champions, also winning the 2014 Oregon Junior Amateur and Oregon Junior Stroke Play. In 2017, Elmes advanced to the semifinals of the Oregon Amateur. He begins his U.S. Amateur journey at 7:40 AM PST on Monday, off the No. 10 tee at Spyglass Hills.

Also competing at the 2018 U.S. Amateur is Oregon State's Shawn Lu (Honolulu, Hawaii), who qualified for the championship earlier this summer at the Eagle Point, Ore. sectional qualifier, along with Elmes.
