Low Scores Highlight Opening Championship of 2015 Oregon Junior Golf Season
Medford, Ore. -- Thirteen players turned up the heat at Centennial Golf Club this weekend as they each recorded under-par totals for the Centennial Junior Championship.
Jack Rodewald led the Boys Open 14-17 Division with a two-day total of 6-under-par 138. He was closely followed by Reese Fisher (-4), Craig Ronne (-3), Bryce Wortman (-2), Ben Stickney (-2), Benjamin Gruher (-2), and Jackson Kennon (-1).
Ellie Slama had no trouble with the weekend’s heat as she cruised to a 6-under-par 138 to lead the Girls Open 12-17 Division. Also posting under-par rounds in this division were Ellen Secor (-1) and Taylor Hartley (-1).
The low total for the tournament came from the Intermediate Boys 12-13 Division, where Scotty Kennon recorded rounds of 67 and 70 to reach a total of 7-under-par 137. Kennon was trailed by Isaac Buerger, who recorded a two-day total of 4-under-par 140.
The final under-par total for the weekend came from Samuel Pyon of the Boys 14-15 Division, who posted scores of 69 and 71 to finish the weekend at 4-under-par 140.
In the Intermediate Girls Division, Quincy Beyrouty fired a two-day total of 163 to win the division by one shot over Baylee Hammericksen and Kaylee Wu.
To the PeeWees, Ethan Tseng won the PW Boys 10-11 Division, finishing at +5 over two days, while Riley Hammericksen shot 44-39 – 83 to win the PW Girls 10-11 Division by six shots. Alex Tseng won the PW Boys 8-9 Division, shooting 88 (+16) over the weekend, while Jacinda Lee shot 50-49 – 99 to win the PW Girls 8-9 Division.
