Max Murai, Jenny Krause Lead After Day One of 2017 Oregon Public Links

PORTLAND, ORE. - Max Murai (Beaverton, Ore.) and Jenny Krause (Eugene, Ore.) lead in their respective divisions after the first day of play at the 20th Oregon Public Links Championship, held this weekend at Broadmoor Golf Course in Portland, Ore.

Murai, who’s a college golfer at Cal State, East Bay, fired a first-round 67 (-5) to lead after Saturday’s round. Murai recently advanced to match play in last month’s Oregon Amateur Championship, and in the 2016 edition of the Oregon Am, Murai made it to the quarterfinals.

Daniel Dolin (Oregon City, Ore.) and Tom Greller (Newberg, Ore.) are tied for second, one shot behind Murai at 4-under par. Jason Wood (Portland, Ore.) is in fourth at 3-under par, while Joshua Goins (Lebanon, Ore.) rounds out the top five at 2-under par.

In the Women’s Championship division, Krause was the only play to finish under par, firing a 1-under par 72 on Saturday. Her lead is one over her sister and defending champion, Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.). Jenny plays at the University of Nevada, Reno, while Haleigh plays at San Diego State.

Madalyn Ardueser (Eugene, Ore.), Camden Decker (Keizer, Ore.), and Janelle Decker (Tualatin, Ore.) are all tied for third at 4-over par.

The Men’s Open division is led by Gary Coots (Bandon, Ore.), who’s at 6-over par after the first day of play. Rich Vranizan (Portland, Ore.) is in second, one shot back.
