WEST LINN, ORE. – The final eight players in each the men’s field, women’s field, and in the senior women’s field is set at the 108th Oregon Amateur Championship and 34th Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, both held at The Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Ore. this week.

Both quarterfinal and semifinal matches will commence on Saturday, setting up the 36-hole final on Sunday. Tee times for the quarterfinals begin at 7:30 AM.

In the men’s bracket, top-seed Cole Madey (West Linn, Ore.) continued his stellar play with two big wins on Friday. He’ll play No. 9 seed Will Snow (Vancouver, Wash.), who defeated University of Oregon golfer Kevin Geniza (Corvallis, Ore.) in the round of 16, on Saturday morning.

Former champion Blake Seabaugh (Tigard, Ore.), the 2008 winner, totaled two 3&2 wins on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals. The No. 28 seed, he’ll play Arthur Kim (Tigard, Ore.), the No. 5 seed and this year’s OGA Tournament of Champions winner.

Riley Elmes (Lake Oswego, Ore.), the No. 2 seed, inched his way into the final eight after a 1-up win over incoming University of Idaho freshman Cole Chrisman (Bend, Ore.). Elmes will play the No. 39 seed Chris Polski (Eugene, Ore.). Polski advanced to the Oregon Amateur finals in 2009 before falling in the championship match.

The final quarterfinal match of the men’s field will include No. 22 seed Brian Humphreys (Washougal, Wash.), last year’s runner-up, and No. 35 seed Daniel Cheremnov (Hubbard, Ore.), who defeated No. 3 seed Charles Sitton V (West Linn, Ore.) 1-up in the round of 32 and No. 19 seed Trevor Harding (Portland, Ore.) in 19 holes to advance to the quarterfinals.

The women’s field lost its top seed in today’s round of 16 action. Ellen Secor (Portland, Ore.), who had a bye in the first round, fell to Hannah Swanson (Forest Grove, Ore.) 1-up. Swanson, a former Oregon State golfer who will play at Portland State starting next fall, will play defending champion Krissy Peterson (Canby, Ore.) with a spot in the semifinals on the line. Swanson is the No. 16 seed, while Peterson is the No. 8 seed.

The winner of that match will play either Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.) or two-time champion Gigi Stoll (Tigard, Ore.). Krause, out of San Diego State, won last year’s Oregon Women’s Public Links Championship and is the No. 4 seed. Stoll, the No. 5 seed, won the Oregon Women’s Amateur in 2014 and 2015.

Two sisters faced off in today’s round of 16 – Amanda and Kristin Elich (Camas, Wash.). It was a hard fought match, and after Amanda, the No. 2 seed, jumped out to a 2-up lead, Kristin stormed back, winning three straight holes and eventually winning the match 2&1. The No. 18 seed, Kristin plays golf at George Fox University. She’ll play No. 10 seed Clare Dittemore (Roseburg, Ore.) in the quarterfinals. Dittemore will be a junior at Montana State University, where she plays golf collegiately.

The last quarterfinal in the women’s bracket will pit Amanda Jacobs (Portland, Ore.), the No. 3 seed, against the No. 11 seed Gretchen Johnson (Portland, Ore.). Jacobs and Johnson were playing partners in last year’s Inaugural Oregon Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, winning the first ever event. Earlier this spring, Johnson won the OGA Women’s Tournament of Champions.

The 34th Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur will also play quarterfinal and semifinal matches on Saturday. Medalist and No. 1 seed Loree McKay (Portland, Ore.) will play former Oregon Women’s Amateur champion Charisse Spada (Portland, Ore.), the No. 8 seed.

In a matchup of big winners on Friday, No. 4 seed Lara Tennant (Portland, Ore.) will play No. 5 seed Ginny Burkey (Eugene, Ore.). Both players won 10&8 in their first-round matches.

Anita Wicks (Roseburg, Ore.), the No. 2 seed and defending champion, will play Patti O’Mara (West Linn, Ore.), the No. 10 seed on Saturday. The winner of that match will face off against either Leilani Norman (Eugene, Ore.), the No. 3 seed, or Marcia Fisher (Molalla, Ore.), the No. 6 seed. Norman and Fisher are both former champions of the Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur.
