Hudson Cup Set for Oct. 19-20
PORTLAND, ORE. – The 69th Hudson Cup and the 26th Senior Hudson Cup matches are set to take place this Thursday and Friday, Oct. 19-20 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore.
Both competitions include amateurs and professionals from Oregon and Washington playing each other in the Ryder Cup-style matches. In cooperation with the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA), the OGA and WSGA selected a total of 10 amateurs and 10 senior amateurs to compete against the professionals in both competitions. Of the 10 players in each category, five represent the OGA and five represent the WSGA. Amateur team members are selected based on performance points earned through each respective amateur golf association. The Pacific Northwest Section PGA also selects their professional team members based on performance points earned throughout the season.
Each player will play three matches: A Foursome Match, a Four-Ball Match and a Singles Match. At the completion of the events, awards are presented to the outstanding player on each team as decided by votes of the team members. The awards honor Chuck Congdon, Larry Lamberger, Bob McKendrick, and Bill Eggers, four great players with outstanding Hudson Cup records.
In 2016, the amateur squad defeated their professional counterparts in the Hudson Cup 12.5-7.5. In the Senior Hudson Cup, the professionals defeated the amateurs 14.5-5.5.
The five OGA competitors playing in the Hudson Cup this week are:
Jack Dukeminier (Portland, Ore.), winner of this year’s Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship and individual champion at the 2017 OGA Men’s Team Championship.
