King, Tennant Qualify for Inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open

RENTON, Wash. - Debby King (Eugene, Ore.) and Lara Tennant (Portland, Ore.) advanced to the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open Championship taking place this summer after qualifying was held Thursday, June 14th at Fairwood Golf & Country Club in Renton, Wash.

King, 58, earned medalist honors after shooting a 3-over par 74 at Thursday's qualiflier. King is an LPGA teach professional who owns and runs the Kingdom of Golf Experience School in Eugene. King has served as head golf coach at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Memphis, and was named the 1997 LPGA National Coach of the Year.

Tennant, 51, continues her recent run of success by earning the third and final qualifying spot for the 2018 U.S. Senior Women's Open. The Waverley Country Club member has already won once in 2018, earning her fourth Oregon Women's Mid-Amateur title and second in a row. In 2017, Tennant also won the Oregon Senior Women's Amateur Championship, and earned co-medalist honors and the No. 1 seed in match play at the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur. Tennant's score of 78 (+7) was two strokes better than the first alternate position.

The inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open will be held July 12-15, 2018 at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill.
