Cuts Made as Field Enters Final Day of 66th Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship

MOLALLA, Ore. – The field for each division was cut in half on Saturday as the remaining players get ready for the final day of play on Sunday at the 66th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship, held July 20-22, 2018 at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore.

Each division – Open, Senior, and Master-40 – had its field cut in half after play was finished in Saturday’s second round. The top half (plus ties) advanced to play the final round on Sunday.

Leading the pack in the Open Division is Hunter Wescott (Portland, Ore.). The former Westview High School graduate currently plays for Dominican College, located in Orangeburg, N.Y., just north of New York City. Wescott sat in second, just one shot back, after the first day of play, but fired a second-consecutive 69 (-3) to enter Sunday’s final round at 6-under par.

In second place is Kyosuke Hara (Honolulu, Hawaii). Hara is a rising junior at Oregon State, as the Hawaii native followed up on a first-round 73 with a second-round 66, the lowest score of the Championships thus far. After two rounds, Hara is at 5-under par, one shot back from the lead.

Philip Bagdade (Portland, Ore.), the 2016 Oregon Mid-Amateur champion, is in third place at 4-under par. Austin Spicer (Gresham, Ore.), who qualified for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship, is in fourth at 3-under par.

In the Senior Division, reigning champion Pat O’Donnell (Happy Valley, Ore.), winner of this event the last three years and eight times total, took the 36-hole lead entering play on Sunday after shooting a 3-under par 69. O’Donnell is at 4-under par, leading by one shot over Tim O’Neal (Vancouver, Wash.), the 2017 Oregon Senior Men’s Amateur runner-up, who’s at 3-under par total.

Denny Taylor (Gladstone, Ore.), the leader after the first day of play, is in third place at 2-under.

Brandon Lorain (Woodburn, Ore.) and Jason Wood (Portland, Ore.) share the lead in the Master-40 Division, both at 9-over par for the Championship.
