Ziegler, Kadin Qualify for U.S. Amateur Championship
Robbie Ziegler and Justin Kadin qualified for the 2019 U.S. Amateur Championship at a sectional competition held July 22 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.
Ziegler, from Portland, shot 9-under par for the 36-hole qualifier (67-64-131). He tallied 10 birdies over the two rounds and posted just one bogey en route to medalist honors.
Kadin, from Corvallis, earned the second position at this year’s national championship after winning in a three-hole playoff with Portland’s Cole Madey when both players tied at 4-under par. Kadin (70-66-136) was red hot on holes 10-18 during the second round, posting six birdies in that stretch to shoot 4-under for his final round.
Ziegler and Kadin have earned spots at the 119th U.S. Amateur Championship scheduled for Aug. 15-18 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina.
