Tennant in the Hunt at 2019 British Women's Senior Am

Lara Tennant will start the final round of the 2019 R&A Womens Senior Amateur Championship within striking distance of the lead sitting in second place at 3-under par through two rounds. The 54-hole competition is being played at the par 75 Royal St. David’s Golf Club in Harlech, Wales.

Tennant, from Portland, is two strokes back of the leader, Ireland’s Alison Taylor, heading into Friday’s final round which will feature players with the 40 lowest scores (and any tying for 40th place) through the first 36 holes. The final pairing will tee off on Friday at 12pm (BST) / 4am (PST).

In Thursday’s second round, Tennant finished 2-under par – offsetting three bogeys with five birdies – joining Taylor as the only players in red numbers for the tournament. After making the turn at 1-over, Tennant finished strong by making birdie on four of the first six holes on the back nine.

Tennant opened the 54-hole stroke-play competition on Wednesday firing a first-round 74 which placed her in a tie for second at 1-under par. She similarly recorded her best holes on the back nine with three of her four birdies coming on holes Nos. 10, 13 and 16.

Tennant, an OGA Member through Waverley Country Club, is one of 11 U.S. players in this year’s field. Two others from the U.S. are in the top 10, with Amy Ellertson (+2) and Patricia Cornett (+3) in seventh and a tie for ninth respectively.

Earlier this year Tennant won her second consecutive U.S. Senior Women's Amateur crown and her third consecutive Oregon Senior Women's Amateur title.
