2019 Women's Interclub Play Season Comes to a Close

The 2019 Women’s Interclub Play season came to a close as the Championship took place on Thursday, October 10th at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore. The season saw 13 Clubs from Vancouver, Wash. to Salem, Ore. compete in two divisions. At the end of the regular season, two Overall Division Champions were crowned, Eastmoreland Golf Club and Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Overall Championship Match was very competitive and was won by Forest Hills Golf Club who earned 55 points, beating Eastmoreland by 2 points who finished with 53 points. The win by Forest Hills is their 2nd WIP Championship they have claimed, who also won in 2017. Forest Hills is the first club to win the Overall Championship multiple times in the six years of the program.

Each Division also awarded a Gross and Net Division Champion based on points earned during the regular season who would also compete in the 2019 WIP Championship. The Gross Championship Match would play only for Gross points. The Net Championship Match would only play for Net points.

The 2019 Gross Division Champions were Heron Lakes Golf Club and The Oregon Golf Club. The Gross Championship Match was won by Heron Lakes who earned 40.5 of the 54 points. This is Heron Lakes 3rd time winning the Gross Championship, who previously won in 2016 and 2018.

The 2019 Net Division Champions were LPGA Amateurs Portland and Meriwether National Golf Club. The Net Championship Match was won by LPGA Amateurs Portland who earned 29.5 points. Meriwether would finish with 24.5 points.

To celebrate the season, all the teams that were not playing in the Championship Matches played in a fun competition. Teams competed in a 2-person scramble with 3 teams of 2 players. Tri-Mountain Golf Club would win the gross award with a 1-under 71 and Rock Creek Country Club won the Net award with a 13-under 59.

In 2016, Skill Shot competitions were added to each Match. Winners of each skill shot this season received a gift card as well as 10 points towards the season long Team Skill Shot Competition. This year, Eastmoreland Golf Club was the Team Skill Shot winner earning 50 points during the regular season.
