OGA Announces Annual Award Winners

The Oregon Golf Association presented its 2019 Annual Awards at the Association’s Annual Meeting, held Monday, October 21 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver, Wash.

Every year the OGA gives out its Annual Awards to members, clubs, PGA Professionals and more for their commitment and diligence in working with the OGA, with their community and with other allied golf organizations.

Additionally, the OGA Championships Golfer of the Year awards were handed out. That annual recognition is voted on by the OGA Tournament Committee, a select group of OGA staff members, volunteers and liaisons.

The following is a list of award descriptions and winners for 2019:

  • OGA Member of the Year:  Dennis Vaughn (Astoria Golf & Country Club – Warrenton, Ore.) – This award recognizes an OGA member for outstanding contributions to their community, the game of golf, accomplishments on the golf course or their involvement with the OGA.

  • OGA Director of the Year:  Ryan Patterson (Nike Golf Club – Beaverton, Ore.) – This award recognizes an OGA Director who has demonstrated exemplary efforts promoting the OGA and keeping members informed of the activities and benefits afforded by the clubs’ membership in the Oregon Golf Association.

  • OGA Club of the Year:  Creekside Women's Golf Association (Salem, Ore.) – This award recognizes an OGA member club (or clubs) for outstanding contributions to the game of golf, the community or the OGA.

  • Superintendent of the Year:  Will Benson (Laurelwood Golf Course – Eugene, Ore. ) – This award recognizes a member of the Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association (OGCSA) for outstanding contributions to the environment, the game of golf, the community or the OGA.

  • Handicap Chair of the Year:  Ron Willis (Shadow Hills Country Club – Junction City, Ore.) – This award recognizes a Certified Handicap Chairperson of an OGA Member Club who has demonstrated extraordinary diligence in management and oversight of both the USGA Handicap System and GHIN.

  • Facility of the Year:  Trysting Tree Golf Club (Corvallis, Ore.) – This award recognizes an OGA facility for outstanding contributions to the game of golf, the community or the OGA.

  • Club Executive of the Year:  Zach Lampert (Meadow Lakes Golf Course – Prineville, Ore.) – This award recognizes exceptional leadership by a General Manager, Clubhouse Manager, Owner/Operator, PGA Professional or other similar position of a facility with an OGA member club.

  • Women's Golfer of the Year:  Lara Tennant (Waverley Country Club – Portland, Ore.) – This award is voted on and handed to the top women's amateur golfer from Oregon and Southwest Washington.

  • Men's Golfer of the Year:  Pat O'Donnell (Arrowhead Golf Club – Molalla, Ore.) – This award is voted on and handed to the top men's amateur golfer from Oregon and Southwest Washington.
