Vaughn, Sobron Galmes Advance to 2021 U.S. Women's Open
Monica Vaughn and Luna Sobron Galmes advanced to the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open after firing low scores Monday at the qualifier in Woodburn. The 36-hole qualifier, which was played at OGA Golf Course, featured 52 competitors from across the globe.
U.S. Women's Open Qualifier
Vaughn, from Reedsport, posted a new women’s course record with her opening-round 63. That round featured an eagle and seven birdies, rolling in four consecutive on holes No. 2 through No. 5.
She followed that up with a 1-under par 71 in the second of the two 18s to take individual medalist honors at 10-under par.
Sobron Galmes, from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, fired back-to-back 68s to finish just two strokes back of Vaughn. Sobron Galmes was consistent posting five birdies and one bogey during each of the two rounds.
First and second alternates are Muni He of Simi Valley, Calif., and Kennedy Swan of Georgetown, Texas.
The 2021 U.S. Women’s Open is scheduled for June 3-6 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The OGA Golf Course is one of 22 qualifying sites.
