Trammell Named Recipient of Richard Malpass Distinguished Service Award
Oregon Golf Association CEO Barb Trammell was named the 2021 Richard Malpass Distinguished Service Award Winner in a ceremony held Tuesday, May 25 by the Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association.
Trammell is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in the golf business and was honored with this prestigious award on May 25, 2021 during the OGCSA Annual Meeting at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, OR.
Nominated by the OGCSA Awards Committee, Trammell received this nomination for her long-term commitment to the golf industry in our region and her ongoing leadership of the Golf Alliance of Oregon (GAO). Her dedication to the GAO in 2020 was instrumental in keeping golf courses open for play through the Covid-19 Pandemic. In 2020 Trammell also lead the group in conducting an updated 2019 Economic Impact Study for the Golf Industry in Oregon. She continues to work tirelessly to advocate for the industry and game of golf in Oregon to legislators on behalf of all constituents of the Allied GAO Associations. In addition, Trammell has volunteered her time specifically to turfgrass research and the superintendent profession through her more than 10 years of service on the Oregon Turfgrass Foundation Board of Directors.
“Barb’s passion and dedication as the CEO of the OGA and steadfast leadership of the Golf Alliance of Oregon was pivotal in providing golf as a safe recreational outlet during the pandemic. Barb is a true champion for the game of golf and golf industry in our region, and her commitment to the future is showcased by her service to the Oregon Turfgrass Foundation and support of the Turf Technician position at Oregon State University” said Shane Hadwick, President of the OGCSA.
In honor of former member and chapter executive Richard Malpass, the OGCSA Board of Directors created the Richard Malpass Distinguished Service Award to recognize and honor a person for their exemplary service to the members of the OGCSA and turfgrass industry. This award is considered a long-term achievement award.
