June USGA Qualifying Registration News and Results
The local USGA qualifying schedule continues in mid-June with a pair of junior events which took place Sunday, June 13 and an upcoming registration deadline for a qualifier just around the corner.
USGA Qualifying Events:
Golfers eligible for the U.S. Amateur have a pending registration deadline. U.S. Amateur Qualifier registration ends June 23, with that qualifier to be played at Oswego Lake Country Club on July 19. Oakmont CC in Verona, Pa., will host the national championship Aug. 9-15.
The U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Junior Girls Amateur held qualifying events at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn on Sunday, June 13. Naoki Easterday, Miles Eastman and Ethan Tseng qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur, while Kyra Ly and Kate Bennett advanced to the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur.
Easterday defeated Miles Eastman in the fourth playoff hole for low score, both finishing 1-under par for the boy's 18-hole qualifier. Tseng finished one stroke back at even par. They advance to compete at The Country Club of North Carolina in Village of Pinehurst, N.C., where the national championship will be played July 19-24.
Ly was the low finisher on the girls side at 1-under par. Bennett finished at 1-over par 73. Both advance to the national championship set for July 12-17 at Columbia CC in Chevy Chase, Md.
