OGA Members Participate in USGA National Championships
The USGA national championship schedule has recently featured the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the U.S. Amateur.
USGA National Championships:
Portland area golfers Robbie Ziegler and Harrison Moir competed in the U.S. Amateur played at famed Oakmont CC in Oakmont, Pa. During the 36-hole stroke play qualifying Ziegler shot rounds of 70 and 76 but failed to make the cut after finishing 6-over par. Moir also missed the cut after posting rounds of 80 and 76.
Lara Tennant, from Portland, had a strong showing at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open played July 29-Aug. 1 at Brooklawn CC in Fairfield, Conn. She was one of seven amateur players to make the cut, finishing third amongst that group in a tie for 29th. Tennant posted rounds of 76, 76, 72 and 75 to finish 11-over par.

Ellie Slama, from Salem, qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur played Aug. 2-8 at Westchester CC in Rye, N.Y. She posted rounds of 76 and 77 during stroke play qualifying but missed the cut by three strokes.
Also competing at the U.S. Women's Am was Kennedy Swan, originally from Austin, Texas and an OGA Member by way of Tokatee Golf Club, who tied for 20th in stroke play qualifying at 1-over par after carding rounds of 73 and 72. She took the 25th seed into the match play rounds but lost in the opening round to Tess Blair, 5 and 3.
