CRAIG RONNE AND KAYLA KOZAK EARN TITLES AT 2014 PORTLAND CITY/BOB ALLARD MEMORIAL; HOGAN CUP PARTICIPANTS ANNOUNCED
Craig Ronne (Klamath Falls, Ore.) and Kayla Kozak (Bluffton, S.C.) won the Boys and Girls Open Divisions at the 2014 Portland City/Bob Allard Memorial at Rose City Golf Course in Portland, Ore., held Monday and Tuesday, July 28th and 29th.
Ronne fired a tournament-low 69 (-3) on Tuesday, finishing with a two-day total of 71-69 – 140 (-4) and one shot ahead of Spencer Tibbits (Vancouver, Wash.), who completed two under-par rounds and finished at 70-71 – 141 (-3). Trent Standard (Vancouver, Wash.) and Ben Wanichek (Eugene, Ore.) tied for third place at two-day totals of 142 (-2).
Kozak shot a 1-over par 74 on Tuesday and defeated Ellie Slama (Salem, Ore.) by one stroke. Kozak finished at 6-over par for the tournament, 78-74 – 152. Slama, the leader after Monday’s round, shot 77-76 – 153 (+7). Chloe Barnes (West Linn, Ore.) and Alison Brennan (Longview, Wash.) shot 159 for the two days and ended tied for third in the division.
In the Juniors Division, Tate Lightle (Lakeview, Ore.) defeated Nicholas Gorham (Vancouver, Wash.) in a playoff to win the title. Both players finished at 79-82 – 161 for the tournament. Carter Lee (Tillamook, Ore.) fired a 2-under par round of 70 on Tuesday to come back and win the Boys Division, finishing at 79-70 – 149 for the event. Bella Marconi (Portland, Ore.) finished 13-shots better in the second round to win the Girls Division, ending up at 89-76 – 165 for the championship.
In the Intermediate Boys Division, Jackson Kennon (Bandon, Ore.) bested Samuel Pyon (Happy Valley, Ore.) by two shots to win first place. Kennon finished the tournament at 72-73 – 145 (+1) and Pyon finished at 75-72 – 147 (+3). May Wang (Portland, Ore.) won the Intermediate Girls Division by one shot over Olivia Venderby (West Linn, Ore.). Wang shot 87-81 – 168 while Venderby finished at 85-84 – 169.
In the Pee Wee Boys 10-11 Division, Brandon Eyre (Salem, Ore.) earned first place after shooting 38-41 – 79 (+3). Elliot Lee (Tillamook, Ore.) won the Pee Wee Boys 8-9 Division. Natalie Gregory (Beaverton, Ore.) won the Pee Wee Girls 10-11 title after shooting 48-49 – 97, and Jade Gruher (Camas, Wash.) won the Pee Wee Girls 8-9 title.
After the Boys Open Division completed its round on Tuesday, the eight participants that will form the two teams from Oregon at the 2014 Eddie Hogan Cup Matches were named. Those participating are –

Held at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland, Ore. from August 8-10, the Hogan Cup 36-hole team matches pit the best junior golfers from the Western United States and Canada against each other in a team format with the three lowest scores each day determining the team total.
