Aram Choi (Portland, Ore.) won in a playoff on Wednesday to repeat as champion at the 24th Oregon Women’s Stroke Play Championship. Chris Maletis (Portland, Ore.) ran away from the rest of the field to win by three strokes at the 9th Oregon Super Senior Championship. Both events were held August 12-13 at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore.

Choi defeated 2014 Oregon Women’s Amateur and Junior Amateur champion Gigi Stoll (Tigard, Ore.) on the second playoff hole. After both players made par on the first hole, Choi hit her second shot to just about three feet from the pin on the second playoff hole. Stoll, after battling with some trees off the fairway, ended up making a putt for bogey. Choi made her birdie putt, and with that she defended her 2013 Oregon Women’s Stroke Play title.

Choi shot scores of 68-75 – 143 (-1), while Stoll rebounded from a first-day score of 73 with a 70 on Wednesday, also ending up at 143.

Behind Choi and Stoll, 2014 Oregon Women’s Public Links champion Kayla Riede (Olivehurst, Calif.) finished in third place with scores of 72-72 – 144 (E). Lindsay Harmon (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Brie Stone (Veneta, Ore.) tied for fourth place at 145 (+1).

In the Senior Women’s Division, Anita Wicks (Roseburg, Ore.) shot a 2-under par 70 on Wednesday to come from behind and win the 2014 title. Wicks had a great stretch on the back nine on Wednesday, holing out her second shot on the par-4 12th hole for an eagle and following that up with a birdie on the 13th hole. Wicks finished the Championship at 75-70 – 145 (+1). First round leader Debbie Friede (Washougal, Wash.) earned second place with scores of 73-75 – 148 (+4), and Loree McKay (La Quinta, Calif.) and Charisse Spada (Portland, Ore.) tied for third place, totaling 152 (+8) for the two days.

Maletis fired two consecutive under-par rounds to take home this year’s Super Senior Championship. His first-round 70 was followed up by a 3-under par 69 on Wednesday, as his two-day total of 139 (-5) secured him a three-shot victory over Bill Bristol (Vancouver, Wash.). Bristol finished with scores of 70-72 – 142 (-2).

Since Maletis won the overall Championship, Tom Carlsen (Bend, Ore.) earned the title in the Nicklaus Division (ages 65-68) with scores of 72-74 – 146 (+2). Carey Watson (Sunriver, Ore.) finished in second place at 147 (72-75). Bristol won the Palmer Division (ages 69-71), with Travis Gamble (Gig Harbor, Wash.) earning second place with scores of 77-75 – 152 (+8). Del Jordan (Tigard, Ore.) earned first place in the Nelson Division (ages 72-28), shooting 74-79 – 153 (+9). James Hipsher (Beaverton, Ore.) finished in second with scores of 78-85 – 163.

Cindy Anderson (Eugene, Ore.) earned the Oregon Women’s Super Senior Championship title, shooting 80-85 – 165 for the two days. She defeated Rusty Beckel (Oak Grove, Ore.) and Susan Palmer (Eugene, Ore.) by 11 shots, as Beckel finished at 85-91 – 176 and Palmer shot 88-88 – 176. Since Anderson finished as the overall champion, Palmer won the Berg Division (ages 66-74) while Beckel won the Zaharius Division (ages 60-65).
