OGA Net Performance Points Policy
As the golf season is quickly approaching and many of you will be back out competing in the numerous Tournaments and Championships that are ran and managed by the OGA, we want to prepare you for a change in a policy that we will begin enforcing with the first tournament of 2015.
The Oregon Golf Association came into existence in 1924 for the sole purpose of administering the Oregon Amateur Championship. Over the years, the OGA has expanded the number of events it runs to include tournaments for all ages, genders and abilities. Fairness, equity and upholding traditions have been cornerstone of OGA Competitions. We take pride in running high quality tournaments that exceed the expectation levels.
In our effort to continue to run fair and equitable tournaments, we will be instituting a new Net Performance Points Policy which gives the OGA the right to adjust the course handicap of any Competitor. This policy will be applied for all OGA Competitions to include any OGA Championship that has a Net portion and all OGA Tour competitions.
Competitors will accumulate points based on their Net finish. Once they have accumulated 17 points, they may have their course handicap reduced by one stroke. Those that accumulate more than 17 points will be reduced by an additional one stroke for every two points accumulated over 17. All points accumulated at OGA Championships and the OGA Tour Championship will carry over for a two year period. All regular season OGA Tour Competitions will only carry over for one year. Points will also be weighted by the size of the field. The following tables will be used:
Please contact the OGA should you have any questions about the OGA Net Performance Points Policy.
