Wescott, Simons go low as 13 players qualify for the 106th Oregon Amateur Championship at the OGA Golf Course
Woodburn, Ore. – Sunny skies and mid-seventy temperatures proved beneficial for players on the OGA Golf Course during the second of four qualifiers for the 106th Oregon Amateur Championship. In the near perfect golf weather, 6 players shot par or better.
Thirty-six players took the course in an attempt to earn one of the 13 qualifying spot for the Oregon Amateur Championship, June 22-27. Former Westview High School standout Hunter Wescott and Kevin Simons of Portland, Oregon both fired 3-under par 69s, with Wescott earning medalist honors by virtue of a scorecard playoff. Josh Thomas of Phoenix, Oregon was one back after shooting a 2-under par 70 as was Shane Johnstone of West Linn.
The cut came at 4-over par, 76, with exactly 13 players posting 76 or below. No playoff was needed to determine the qualifiers.
