REDMOND, ORE. – After four days of competition, the final matches are set for the 85th Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur Championship, held at Eagle Crest Resort – Ridge Course in Redmond, Ore.

Championship matches for all flights, in all divisions, will take place Friday morning, June 26th. All matches will be 18 holes, with the exception of the Pee Wee Girls Division, which will be 9 holes.

In the semifinals of the Junior Boys Division, both matches came down to the wire. In the first semifinal, Spencer Tibbits (Vancouver, Wash.) defeated Joshua Wu (Medford, Ore.) 2 and 1. Tibbits maintained a 2-up lead after 15 holes, but hit his tee shot in the water on the par-3 16th, as Wu narrowed the deficit to 1-up. Tibbits ended up winning the 17th hole to win the match, and advance to tomorrow’s Championship match.

The other semifinal pitted Bryce Wortman (Klamath Falls, Ore.) against Brian Humphreys (Washougal, Wash.). Wortman was 2-down going into the 16th hole, but won the last three holes to take the match 1-up. Tomorrow’s Junior Boys Championship match will tee off at 11:10 AM.

The Girls Division featured two matches that featured three of the top four seeds in the division. The top seed, Ellie Slama (Salem, Ore.), cruised into the final by defeating Iliana Telles (The Dalles, Ore.) 6 and 5. In the other semifinal, the second seed, Ellen Secor (Portland, Ore.), beat Taylor Hartley (Vancouver, Wash.) 4 and 3. The Girls Division Championship match will start at 11:00 AM.
