Dukeminier, Ree, Foushee Qualify for 2016 U.S. Amateur
CRESWELL, ORE. – Three players – Jack Dukeminier (Portland, Ore.), Ryann Ree (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Zach Foushee (West Linn, Ore.) – qualified Monday for the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship, after sectional qualifying was held at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Ore.
Monday’s sectional qualifier included 36-holes, with three available qualifying spots and two alternate positions.
Dukeminier and Ree both finished with a 36-hole total of 142 (-2) to share medalist honors. Dukeminier fired two rounds of 71, while Ree shot a first-round 68, following it up with a 74. Foushee earned the third and final qualifying spot with a two-round total of 143 (-1). He led the field after the first 18 holes, firing a 67 (-5), and he hung on to the third spot with a 76 after the final 18.
Brian Humphreys (Washougal, Wash.), last month’s Oregon Amateur runner-up, earned first alternate after defeating Nigel Lett (Beaverton, Ore.) in a playoff. Lett is the second alternate. Both players finished at even-par (144) after 36-holes.
The 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held August 15-21 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich.
