Conner Barr, Jesse Heinly, Justin Kadin to Represent OGA at 2016 USGA Men's State Team

WOODBURN, ORE. - The trio of Conner Barr (Beaverton, Ore.), Jesse Heinly (Bend, Ore.) and Justin Kadin (Corvallis, Ore.) will represent Oregon and the OGA at this week’s 2016 USGA Men’s State Team, held September 28-30 at the Country Club of Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala.

The format of the event includes 54 holes of stroke play, where the two lowest individual scores will be counted for the team’s overall score each day.

All three players representing Oregon and the OGA have had excellent local results the past year. Barr’s 2016 season began as champion at the state’s premier amateur golf event, the Oregon Amateur Championship, at Black Butte Ranch – Glaze Meadow in June. Barr, 23, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2016 PNGA Amateur Championship in July, and earned a top-15 finish at this year’s Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship at Centennial Golf Club in August.

Heinly’s 2016 OGA season has been highlighted by a third place finish at the Tournament of Champions, held in April at Langdon Farms Golf Club. He advanced to match play at the 2016 Oregon Amateur Championship, and earned a T-11 finish at this year’s 2016 Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship. In 2015, Heinly, 24, advanced to U.S. Open sectional qualifying, along with earning a sixth-place finish at the Oregon Open. Heinly impressed at his last USGA event, the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship, where he advanced to the round of 32.

Kadin, 27, continues to be one of the steadiest and consistent amateur golfers in thenorthwest, which helped him earn a spot on this year’s team. In 2016, Kadin advanced to U.S. Open sectional qualifying, and earned a T-2 finish at the Oregon Open. He also finished T-3 during stroke play qualifying at this year’s Oregon Amateur Championship, advancing to the round of 32 in match play, and earned a fifth place finish at the 2016 Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship. In 2015, Kadin earned the win at the Oregon Mid-Am, as well as advancing to the quarterfinals of the PNGA Amateur Championship and earning a top-five finish at the Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship.

The USGA Men’s State Team occurs every two years. In 2014, Team Oregon finished in a tie for 17th. Both Heinly and Kadin were members of that team.
