OGA, Partners Make Donation to OSU Turfgrass Program

ALOHA, Ore. - The Oregon Golf Association, along with allied partners, contributed to a $50,000 donation to the Oregon State Turfgrass Program last week at the 2018 Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association (OGCSA) Annual Meeting, held Thursday, May 24 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore.

Each year, the OGA makes a donation to the Oregon Turgrass Foundation (OTF). The Foundation, composed of turfgrass industry professionals and allied experts, seeks to enhance turfgrass users’ experiences and turfgrass conditions, raise funds to improve the understanding of turfgrass needs, conditions and benefits, as well as provide support for student scholarships and higher education projects.

In 2018, the OGA donated $10,000 to the OTF. This general donation was part of a $50,000 donation, on behalf of the OTF, to the OSU Turfgrass Program. These funds will go toward research leading to reduced water usage, smoother greens, and more benefits to golf courses around the region.

"The OGA is proud to donate funds annually to support turf research initiatives at Oregon State University, the results of which help advance the industry and contribute to improved golf course conditions throughout our region," said Barb Trammell, OGA CEO.

The OGCSA is dedicated to providing education, a forum for communication, and the enhancement of the image of its members. The OGA and OGCSA are two organizations that make up the Golf Alliance of Oregon, along with the Oregon Chapter PGA, Oregon Golf Course Owners Association and the Club Managers of Oregon.
