OGA Score Posting Season & Revision Dates
The 2016 score-posting season came to a close on Nov. 30. The OGA inactive season comprises the months of December, January, and February and local rounds cannot be posted during this period no matter the weather or course conditions.
However, if you are traveling and playing in sunbelt states during our off-season, where the golf associations are year-round, those scores must be posted at the time they are played. Because we provide revisions to Handicap Indexes on the 1st and 15th of every month, your handicap will be updated to reflect your sunbelt rounds, if any are posted. If you have questions about score posting, ask your Golf Pro, your Club's Handicap Chair, call the OGA at 503-981-4653 ext 226 or ask for the Handicapping Department. You may also contact us via email
The 2017 score-posting season will commence on Wednesday, March 1.
If we have your email address logged into GHIN, you will receive a Handicap Index report on the 1st and 15th of every month. Click here to update your GHIN record or contact information. It is very easy to post scores even when traveling via the club’s computer, by logging onto ghin.com, or through the free GHIN mobile app on your smartphone.
Additional Rule Note: If golf course conditions decline, it is important to note that there are options for playing golf under the Rules while dealing with unpleasant conditions. Please review the OGA positions paper here. Option #1 describes Embedded Ball Through the Green, Option #2 is the Cleaning Ball rule, and Option #3 describes the proper Local Rule that can be established by the Committee at your club for Preferred Lies (Winter Rules). If you are not sure if, or how, these rules would be applicable to your course, please check with your club’s Handicap or Golf Committee for their recommendations.
