Portland's Ellen Secor Advances to U.S. Women's Four-Ball Semifinals

TARZANA, CALIF. - Ellen Secor (Portland, Ore.) and her playing partner, Katrina Prendergast, have advanced to the semifinals of the 2018 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship, being held this week at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif.
Secor and Prendergast, of Sparks, Nev., are both collegiate golfers at Colorado State University. The two advanced to the round of 16 in last year's event before losing with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
The two will play their semifinal match on Wednesday, May 2nd beginning at 7 AM PST against Megan Furtney and Erica Shepherd. Shepherd is the reigning U.S. Girls' Junior champion, while both her and Furtney are committed to Duke University.
The Championship match will also be held Wednesday, following the two semifinal matches.
Secor, a former Oregon Junior Golf standout, attended Sunset High School in Portland. In 2017, Secor earned medalist honors at the Oregon Women's Amateur Championship.
Fellow Oregonian Gigi Stoll (Tigard, Ore.) and her playing partner, Haley Moore, lost in Tuesday's round of 16 to the side of Furtney and Shepherd. Former Oregon Women's Amateur champion Krissy Peterson (Canby, Ore.) and former Oregon Women's Stroke Play winner Hannah Swanson (Forest Grove, Ore.) missed out on match play by two shots.
