Portland's Jacobs, Johnson Advance to Match Play at 2017 U.S. Women's Mid-Am
HOUSTON, Tex. - Amanda Jacobs and Gretchen Johnson, both of Portland, Ore., advanced to match play after stroke play qualifying concluded Sunday at the 2017 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, held through Thursday at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
Jacobs, the No. 43 seed in the 64-person bracket, will play Stacy Dennis (Addison, Texas) in the first round on Monday at 10:39am PST. This year's PNGA Women's Mid-Amateur Player of the Year fired a two-round total of 79-76 - 155 in stroke play qualifiying. Johnson, champion of the 2017 OGA Tournament of Champions, is the No. 35 seed and will play Leigh Klasse (Cumberland, Wis.) at 9:45am PST in the first round. Johnson shot scores of 76-78 - 154 this weekend.
Last year, Jacobs advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.
