Reimers, Heinly, Kadin Named to Oregon’s USGA State Team
The Oregon Golf Association has announced its 2014 USGA Men’s State team, which will include Hans Reimers (Albany, Ore.), Jesse Heinly (Bend, Ore.) and Justin Kadin (Bend, Ore.).
The USGA Men’s State Team Championship will be conducted at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick (Ind.) Resort Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
Reimers was a 2014 U.S. Amateur qualifier and a member of Oregon’s 2014 Morse Cup Team at the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship; Heinly also qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur and made it to the round of 16 at the 2014 PNGA Amateur Championship, and Kadin finished tied for second in the 105th Oregon Amateur Stroke Play Qualifying, qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and represented Team Oregon at this year’s Morse Cup.
Reimers recently graduated from Mercer University, located in Macon, Georgia. Reimers won the Oregon Open in 2013, and has had an impressive 2014. He earned medalist honors at U.S. Amateur qualifying at Emerald Valley Golf and Resort in Creswell, Ore., along with making it to the quarterfinals of the 2014 PNGA Amateur Championship and finishing second in U.S. Open local qualifying in Lake Mary, Fla.
Heinly began his collegiate career at Concordia University (Portland), and then transferred to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio after the 2011-12 season. In 2014, Heinly finished tied for second in U.S. Amateur Qualifying in Creswell, Ore., along with making it to the round of 16 at the PNGA Amateur Championship and round of 32 at the 105th Oregon Amateur Championship.
Kadin played collegiate golf at Southwest Oregon Community College and at the University of Idaho. In 2014, Kadin finished second at U.S. Public Links Qualifying in Newport, Ore., along with finishing second in stroke play qualifying at the Oregon Amateur. He made it to the round of 32 in the Oregon Amateur, and also tied for 11th in the 2014 Oregon Stroke Play Championship. Kadin also tied for fourth in this year’s Oregon Open.
Team Captain for the squad from Oregon will be Eric Fiskum (Salem, Ore.), who is a member of the OGA Executive Committee and also the OGA Tournament Chairman. Fiskum has played in two USGA Men’s State Team Championships.
“All three players on Team Oregon for the USGA State Team Championship have worked hard to earn their spot in this prestigious event,” said Brent Whittaker, OGA Director of Championships. “This Championship includes some of the best amateur players in the country, and we know they will represent Oregon well.”
The USGA Men’s and Women’s State Team Championships grew out of the celebration of the USGA centennial in 1995 and have since been held biennially. The championships are open to players from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. State associations may use any criteria of their choosing in selecting their teams, which comprise three amateur, non-college golfers.
