Robbie Ziegler Qualifies for 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship
MEDFORD, ORE. – Robbie Ziegler (Canby, Ore.) earned the only qualifying spot into the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship onTuesday, after qualifying was held at Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford, Ore.
The 36-hole qualifier included a total of 43 players, battling for just one spot into the championship proper.
Ziegler earned medalist honors by shooting scores of 68-69 – 137 (-5). His 36-hole round included ten birdies and an eagle. This will mark the second consecutive year that Ziegler will have qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship. Last year, he advanced to the first round of match play.
Kevin Rei (Sonora, Calif.) earned the first alternate position after shooting scores of 69-70 – 139 (-3), while Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash.) nabbed second alternate honors after shooting scores of 69-71 – 140 (-2).
The 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held August 15-21 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
