Secor Qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur

CAMERON PARK, Calif. - Ellen Secor carded a low enough score at a U.S. Women's Amateur qualifier in the beginning of July to advance to the U.S. Women's Amateur in August.

Secor shot a 72 during the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifying round on July 3 at Cameron Park Country Club in Cameron Park, Calif. The Portland, Oregon native was 1-over at the turn before dropping in birdies on four of the last nine holes to finish tied for fifth and make the 10-player cut at even.

The sophomore at Colorado State has qualified for many tournaments as an amateur golfer in the region. She qualified for the 2016 US Women's Amateur Four-Ball with her CSU teammate Jessica Sloot and also won the Pacific Northwest Junior PGA title at the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur Championship.

Secor will head to the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif., to compete in the U.S. Women's Amateur August 7-13.
