"Southern Swing" Begins for Oregon Junior Golf

Medford, OR – The “Southern Swing” of Oregon Junior Golf begins at Rogue Valley Country Club and brings a lot of fresh faces, but many well-known names sit atop the leaderboard as the golfers head into the final round.

In the Boys Open 14-17 Division, Craig Ronne leads after scoring an even-par round of 72. Benjamin Gruher, Joseph Brunden, and Richie Mikesell all followed closely behind with rounds of 1-over-par each. The top 10 players are all within four strokes of the lead, which should bring an exciting final day.

Victoria Gailey, winner of the Central Willamette Junior less than a week ago, leads the Girls Open 12-17 Division after a 6-over-par round. Taylor Hartley trails Gailey by just one after a 7-over-par round.  A major highlight of the day came from 17-year-old Rio Smith, as she holed out from nearly 150-yards for eagle on the 18th hole, jolting her to just five strokes off the lead.

Mike Piazzini leads the Junior Boys 16-17 Division after firing a round of 9-over-par. Rhett Pedersen, Kyler DeVore, and Zach Henley are all tied for second and sit just two strokes off the lead.

Karsyn Rushing, playing in her first OJG Major event of the season, leads the Girls 15-17 Division by nine strokes after shooting a 10-over-par round of 82. She is trailed by Josephine Fraser.

Keith Lobis leads by 12 strokes in the Boys 14-15 Division after shooting a 7-over-par round of 79. He is trailed by Taylor Anderson.

The Intermediate Girls 12-14 Division is led by Baylee Hammericksen, who posted a 4-over-par score today. She is trailed by Kaylee Wu, who ended with a 10-over-par round of 82.

The Intermediate Boys 12-13 Division is led by Danny Hext, who fired a 2-over-par round of 74. Hext is closely trailed by Riggs Loftin, who finished the round at 5-over-par.

In the PeeWee Divisions, Riley Hammericksen leads the 10-11 Girls Division at 6-over-par. Trent Anderson leads the 10-11 Boys Division after shooting a 6-over-par round as well. Natalie Yen leads the 8-9 Girls Divisions after shooting 14-over-par.
