Tennant Marches to Semis at U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur
Lara Tennant posted a 5 and 4 victory over Lynn Cowan of Rocklin, Calif., in the quarterfinal round of match play Wednesday morning at the 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship played at Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
After dropping the first hole, Tennant proceeded to win five of the next six holes and take a 4 up advantage just eight holes into the match. Cowan failed to make par during that stretch. Tennant sealed the victory by winning holes No. 12 and 14.
Tennant, the defending champion from Portland, will face No. 24 Patricia Ehrhart in the semifinal round scheduled for Wednesday at 10:45am (PT). Ehrhart won her quarterfinal match over No. 48 Tina Barker, who was coming off an upset victory over top-seed Martha Leach in Tuesday's round of 16.
The other semifinal will include the winners of the No. 34 Sue Wooster / No. 7 Laura Webb quarterfinal and the No. 3 Mary Ann Hayward / No. 22 Caryn Wilson quarterfinal.
