Three Sides Earn Medalist Honors at 2018 Oregon Amateur Four-Ball

REDMOND, Ore. – The sides of Jim Dunlap/Jay Poletiek (Tigard/Happy Valley, Ore.), Krissy Peterson/Hannah Swanson (Canby/Forest Grove, Ore.) and Byron Patton/Jack Schneider (Tigard/Oregon City, Ore.) earned medalist honors in their respective divisions during stroke play qualifying at the 3rd Oregon Amateur Four-Ball Championship, held Aug. 24-27, 2018 at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond, Ore.

Dunlap and Poletiek earned medalist honors in the Open division; Peterson and Swanson in the Women’s division, and Patton and Schneider in the Senior Men’s division.

All divisions will begin match play on Saturday. The Open division will play two matches, while the Women’s and Senior Men’s fields will play one match.

The Open division medalists, Dunlap and Poletiek were runners-up in the Inaugural Oregon Amateur Four-Ball back in 2016. The duo tied two other sides at 7-under after stroke play qualifying, all firing 65s on Friday. After a four-hole playoff to determine the medalist team, Dunlap and Poletiek prevailed over Braeden Campbell/Jake Wiley (Washougal, Wash./Portland, Ore.) and JC Riter/Blake Seabaugh (Portland/Tigard, Ore.).

Last year’s Open division champions – Trevor Harding and Brent McKee (Portland, Ore.), both tied for fourth place during qualifying with their new partners. Harding is playing with this year’s Oregon Amateur champion Robbie Ziegler (Portland, Ore.), and McKee is teaming up with 2016 Oregon Mid-Amateur winner and this year’s Oregon Men’s Stroke Play runner-up Philip Bagdade (Portland, Ore.).

Peterson and Swanson, longtime childhood friends and former college teammates, earned meadalist honors in the Women’s division after shooting 67 (-5) on Friday. Both are former OGA champions – Peterson, the 2016 Oregon Women’s Amateur winner, and Swanson the 2016 Oregon Women’s Stroke Play champion.

The side of Amy Anderson/Kailin Downs (Bend/Oregon City, Ore.), last year’s winners, finished in second place at 3-under par.

In the Senior Men’s division, Patton and Schneider are looking to defend their title from a year ago. The duo fired the low score among all divisions on Friday, finishing at 8-under par (64). Phil Barricklow/Kirk Schwerzler (Camas/Vancouver, Wash.) earned second place at 6-under, while the side of Mark Adams/Douglas Little (Portland, Ore.) finished in third place during qualifying at 4-under par.
