Title Matches Set for Oregon Am, Oregon Senior Women's Am

The title matches are set for the 112th Oregon Amateur Championship and 38th Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur Championship being played July 5-10 at Bandon Trails Golf Course. The men and women will play a 36-hole final match, while the senior women will play 18 for the crown on Saturday.

On the women’s side Mary Scott Wolfe will be making her first appearance in an Oregon Am final. The 2019 Oregon Junior Amateur Champion advanced to the quarterfinal round in this event a year ago. Wolfe, a sophomore-to-be at Gonzaga, defeated Bayler Brundage 5&3 in the semifinal round on Friday.

Wolfe will take on two-time champion Ellie Slama who went 19 holes with Montgomery Ferreira. Slama started off in spectacular fashion with an ace on hole No. 2, a 166-yard Par 3.

This marks the fourth consecutive Oregon Am final for Slama, who won the title in 2018 and 2019 before falling to Amanda Jacobs in the title match a year ago.

Matteo Fuenmayor and Nate Stember will battle for the men’s title on Saturday.

Fuenmayor, who just wrapped up his freshman season at Oregon State, defeated his future OSU teammate Brandon Eyre in the semis, 5&3. The other side of the bracket featured strong play by University of Oregon sophomore-to-be Nate Stember, who cruised to a 6&4 victory over Reese Fisher.

It is the first Oregon Am final for either player. Stember won the 2018 Oregon Junior Amateur.

The senior women's will feature a rematch of last year’s final between four-time defending champion Lara Tennant and last year’s runner-Ginny Burkey.

Slama-Wolfe will tee off at 8am. They will be followed off the tee by the Fuenmayor-Stember duel. The Burkey-Tennant 18-hole match is set for 12:30pm.
