Tougher Conditions Polish Players in the Klamath Basin Junior
Klamath Falls, OR – The Klamath Basin Junior, held at both Running Y and Reames Golf and Country Club, allowed many players to shine throughout the week. While six total players fired rounds below par in round one, faster greens and windier conditions posed new challenges for the juniors during the final round. A lone player finished the tournament under par.
In the Boys Open 14-17 Division, Brian Humphreys won his first event of the season after firing consecutive rounds under par for a two day total of 3-under-par. Carson Little ended the tournament in second place after shooting consecutive rounds of even-par. Mayson Tibbs and Craig Ronne tied for third by ending with two day totals of 1-over-par.
In the Girls Open 12-17 Division, Haley Greb fired rounds of even-par and 4-over-par to end the tournament as the champion. Victory Gailey trailed closely behind her, scoring a two day total of 11-over-par. Reilly Whitlock took home the third place trophy after scoring a two day total of 15-over-par.
In the Junior Boys 16-17 Division, Zach Henley ended the tournament at 11-over-par to win the division. Casey Spencer ended the tournament 16-over-par, followed by Reese Lam at 18-over-par, to take second and third, respectively.
Karsyn Rushing ended the tournament as the champion in the Girls 15-17 Division. Rushing was followed by Belle Vest and Taylor Tarshis.
Luke Simoneau won the Boys 14-15 Division after opening the tournament with a round of 7-over-par.
In the Intermediate Girls 12-14 Division, Baylee Hammericksen took home her second championship trophy of the week after ending with a final total of 16-over-par. Olivia Venderby ended the tournament in second place with a total of 27-over-par, while Kaylee Wu stayed right on her heals, ending the tournament at 28-over-par.
The Intermediate Boys 12-13 Division was led by Brody Marconi after rounds of 4-over-par and 7-over-par, for a total of 11-over-par. Marconi was trailed by Johnny Ward and Brandon Eyre, scoring 15-over-par and 16-over-par, respectively.
Not to be outdone by her sister, Riley Hammericksen also took home her second championship trophy of the week, ending with a final total of 17-over-par and winning the PeeWee Girls 10-11 Division. After two outstanding rounds, Arthur Venderby won the PeeWee Boys 10-11 Division with a tournament total of 3-over-par. Another multiple trophy winner this week was Natalie Yen, winning the PeeWee Girls 8-9 Division.
Each winner this week punched their ticket to the Tournament of Major Champions, to be hosted by The Oregon Golf Club, in West Linn, Oregon, on September 27th.
