Two Qualify for 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open
Linda Bowman Segre and Leslie Folsom finished in the top two at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier played Monday, April 29 at Tualatin Country Club. The event featured 10 entrants – eight amateurs and two professionals – who competed for two spots in the national championship scheduled for May 15-19 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
Bowman Segre, an amateur from San Francisco, Calif., shot a 10-over par 82 to claim medalist honors. Folsom, an amateur from Tuwila, Wash., registered an 11-over par 83 to finish second.
Local players Charisse Spada (Portland) and Debby King (Eugene) each tallied a 12-over par 84, forcing a playoff for first- and second-alternate positions. Spada recorded par on the playoff's first hole to claim first-alternate position from this sectional.
The next USGA qualifier administered by the OGA will be the U.S. Open Local Qualifier set for May 13 at Waverley Country Club.
