WinCo Foods Portland Open Alumni Update

DID YOU KNOW? In addition to bringing a fantastic golf tournament to the Pacific Northwest, the Winco Foods Portland Open donates 100 percent of all ticket sales revenue to 501(c)(3) charities like Oregon Junior Golf through its TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program. Last year the tournament raised $1,250,000 for charities largely through the program.
Many terrific players have competed in the local Web.com event over the years. See below for updates on notable Portland Open alumni.
Aaron Wise Continues Fine Form: Making his third start on the Web.com Tour, Wise posted a 17-under par total good for third place at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. With the strong showing, Wise jumps 37 spots on the Money List to the number 16 position. Any player that finishes the regular season inside the top 25 on the Money List receives their PGA TOUR Card here in Portland, setting up what could be a sweet homecoming for the former Oregon Duck and 2016 NCAA Champion this August at Pumpkin Ridge.
Another Win for Portland Open Alums: Adam Hadwin nearly won the WinCo Foods Portland Open in 2014, finishing just one shot behind winner Carlos Ortiz. His strong finish vaulted Hadwin to the number four spot on the Web.com Tour Money List, securing his PGA TOUR Card for the 2015 season. He hasn’t looked back since and earlier this month he notched his first PGA TOUR win at the Valspar Championship. With his win the Canadian finds himself inside the Top-10 of the FedExCup standings and has a tee time at The Masters where he will make his first career appearance.
Hadwin will join a handful of other Portland Alums in the field including Justin Thomas who has three wins to his credit this season, Mackenzie Hughes, Si Woo Kim and Rod Pampling each of whom qualified for The Masters with their wins in 2016. Daniel Berger rounds out the list of Portland Alums in Augusta this week where he will look to build off his T-10 finish at the 2016 Masters.
Web.com Tour Player to Watch:
Casey Wittenberg—Oklahoma State University—32
No one made a bigger move than Wittenberg this month. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy won the Louisiana Open by three shots marking his first professional win since 2012. The win vaulted him 82 spots up the Money List where he now holds the 5th position and has assured himself a spot in the Web.com Tour Finals.
